Reflection

The Reverend Deacon Eric Johnson

Paul’s epistle reminds us that there is no end to the gifts which the Holy Spirit will give to the church: wisdom, faith, healing, prophecy…and the list goes on. Paul also reminds us that no matter how much we may want  to have a particular gift, it is not ours to choose. We only are given a particular gift “as the Spirit chooses.” Paul  is also very clear about how we are to use those gifts: “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”  For the common good.  In direct contrast to those who say, “I alone can fix it,” we Christians believe that we best use our gifts by doing good together, when we use our gifts together in building up a community that reflects justice and compassion and goodness, which is what God intended for the world from the beginning.

Important Notice Regarding Upcoming Services & Meetings

The Reverend Diane Ramerman

This Sunday, January 9 and through Sunday, February 6,  we ask the congregation to worship with us via Facebook livestream rather than attending services in person. In-person attendance will be limited to worship leaders (presider, homilist, Deacon/Eucharistic Minister,  readers, organist) and AV tech. We hope this will carry us through the peak of the latest pandemic surge. If you have difficulty  accessing the livestream, please contact the church office. Bulletins will continue to be posted.

If you are a scheduled worship leader and are not comfortable serving in person, please contact June Cook so a substitute may be arranged.  Sacred Ground faith formation and Annual Meeting will be virtual only, via Zoom. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this difficult time.  Please stay healthy, warm and safe.

Blessings this Epiphany,
Diane+
