Volunteer & Impact
Red Door Thrift Shop
The Red Door, a ministry of Christ Episcopal Church, offers quality used goods at great value, promoting sustainability through reuse.
Volunteers from Anacortes and nearby areas assist with donations, sales, and online listings. Profits support causes like homelessness, hunger, elderly care, and family support.
In 2023, The Red Door donated $50,000 to local and global needs. See the supported causes below.
Chandler’s Square Morning Prayer
Christ Church provides a weekly prayer service at Chandler's Square.
Chandler's Square Retirement Community, based on principles of family, collaboration, and respect, offers independent and assisted living for Anacortes seniors.
We hold a service there every Sunday at 9:30 AM, before our 10:30 AM service, with volunteers rotating to lead the morning prayer.
Dinner at the Brick
Christ Church supports our friends at Westminster Presbyterian Church (just a few blocks away in a beautiful old brick building) in their weekly "Dinner at the Brick" event.
Every Sunday at 4:30 PM, they offer a free meal to anyone who wishes to attend.
Christ Church hosts Dinner at the Brick once per quarter, with our volunteers cooking, welcoming guests, and serving dinner.
Anacortes Community Health Council
Members of Christ Church, led by Deacon Eric as president and Diane Canington as secretary and treasurer, coordinate the Anacortes Community Health Council.
They unite various groups to support initiatives like school success, violence prevention, substance abuse awareness, health education, family support, teen services, and aid for the homeless and hungry.
Ten Anacortes churches contribute to emergency shelter through a consolidated motel voucher pool.
