Reflection

Grace Minton

Grace Minton

I have come to deeply appreciate the value of gathering in a small group to achieve a common goal. The ability to listen to new ideas expands understanding and broadens one’s outlook, and (hopefully) one’s effectiveness in life. Listening to the participants in Rev. Courtney’s recent Sunday class, “Proclaim by Word and Example”, I heard a perfect example of exuberant sharing and challenging of ideas.

At a recent gathering of the Rule of Life group, I was impressed with the discussion we had regarding the Psalms and the opportunity to use this Lenten season as a time to commit to becoming more familiar with them. My favorite so far is Psalm 96 which begins:

“O sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.”

And ends:

“Then shall all the trees of the forest sing
for joy
before the Lord; for he is coming,
for he is coming to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with
righteousness,
and the peoples with his truth.”

My thanks to all who participate in our various faith formation programs. I believe this participation, in addition to attendance at our worship services, is vital to spiritual growth.

Weekly News

Dawn Jex, Red Door Manager

Dawn Jex

Hello everyone!

I hope that you are enjoying some of this sunshine we’ve been having! Spring is finally on its way I think. Yay!

I just wanted to let you all know that I had a tremendous feeling of camaraderie last week. We really are an amazing team of people working together for the good of this community. Volunteers coming up with new ways to make donations more effective and feasible, folks working hard to make the shop less successful for shoplifters, new volunteers being welcomed and mentored by veterans. It is amazing what we accomplish together! Thank you for what YOU bring to this group and keep bringing me your ideas so we can be even more successful!

Here are some upcoming shifts that need coverage:
—Thursday 3/20 and 3/27 - 10- 12:30 hard goods pricing.
—The first Friday of each month we need an additional person to work in the donation center from 10 -1.
—Fabric Pricer - I need one or two folks who will check our fabric bins in the shed regularly (once a week would be nice) and get the fabric priced. We currently have two large baskets full. This is one of those items that gets purchased as soon as we price it so this is a very needed service.

Memorial Day - May 26th will be the next holiday that we are closed.

Printed calendars for April are on the bulletin board if you need to see those.

Hugs to everyone!
Dawn
